Adorable Puppy Rescued by Hero Cops

While New York Police Department (NYPD) officers keep civilians safe, those aren’t the only ones who need protection. According to People, when a puppy broke loose and ended up in a dangerous situation in the New York City subway, New York City’s Finest came to the rescue. The feat shows that NYPD officers know no bounds when it comes to ensuring the safety of everyone in the big apple — even its four-legged residents.

A Miraculous Rescue
When Moose, a small dog with curly black hair, broke loose, he found himself stranded and in a dangerous situation. It all started with a regular day at doggy daycare, with events taking a turn after someone left the door open and Moose escaped, the New York Post reports.

The pup made a beeline for the 14th Street subway station. However, he quickly found himself on the tracks, trapped underneath a Number 2 train. Moose was hit by the train before hiding underneath it, according to People. Luckily, the canine was not seriously injured. However, concerned onlookers tried to help the puppy by calling 911.

The NYPD quickly responded to the call, sending a team of officers to retrieve and rescue the lost dog. One officer descended down a ladder and onto the tracks with a flashlight in his hand and looked underneath a subway car. After spotting Moose, the officer calmly and sweetly talked to the canine, and called to the dog so he would come closer. He eventually reached out and pulled Moose from underneath the train.

A Happy Ending
Moose was carried back to safety on the subway platform, with bystanders erupting in cheers as the puppy was handed over to the team of NYPD officers. The pup also got pats from everyone on the scene before being brought back to his owners, a happy ending to the dramatic story.

This heartwarming rescue is a reminder that police officers do more than keep people safe. Officers respond with kindness, courage, and compassion to all calls for help. And thanks to their quick actions, little Moose is back where he belongs, proving that even in a busy city, heroes are always close by.
