From Bullets to Beads

Raven+Lily handcrafted designs empower women

Raven + Lily sells beautiful handmade jewelry, paper, scarves and soaps crafted by gifted artisans from Ethiopia and India, but there is more to their products than meets the eye: the socially conscious eco-friendly brand provides sustainable economic opportunities for marginalized women, giving them a livelihood and a sense of dignity.
Bullet casings are transformed into exquisite beads and later fashioned into jewelry by HIV-positive women in Northern Ethiopia. In India, discarded army tents, newspapers and denim jeans are turned into recycled paper, handcrafted by female artisans.
If you think that’s enough, think again; Raven+Lily takes it even a step further by donating 10% of their sales to their partner communities, funding education, healthcare and micro-loans.
Co-founders Kirsten Dickerson and Sophia Hirokawa Lin believe that each designed item tells the story of the woman who created it, representing their culture and beauty in each product. [Source: Raven + Lily]
