In yet another brilliant Buzzfeed clip, comparative culture gets a down-to-earth treatment, while contrasting the global prices of basic kitchen ingredients such as bananas and coffee. When it comes to rice, for example, the differences are staggering: $5 will buy you seven pounds in the US, 12 in China, 14 in Afghanistan and a mere two in Japan – where people spend a fortune on this household staple.
