During the winter months, most people keep the windows closed to keep out the cold. This helps keep you warm and toasty.

The downside is that this can result in moisture being trapped inside and this could result in your home smelling musty and can allow mold to grow.  To combat this, many people run a dehumidifier 24/7 in their homes. But  there is a better way. According to Country Living, you can bring houseplants that naturally absorb moisture into your home. 

Plants do this through a process called foliar acceptance that absorbs due, fog, and other forms of moisture through their leaves. Here are some of the best houseplants for the job that can help keep your space clean and dry all winter long:

Peace Lilies

Peace lilies are  beautiful houseplants that are known for absorbing moisture from the air through their leaves. Peace lilies can be used in most areas of your home, because these hardy plants do not  need a lot of sunlight. Palms

These plants, like peace lilies, also absorb humidity through their leaves. There are many types of palms that could be great for your home such as bamboo palms, areca psalm, lady’s palms and reed palms. These plants are easy to take care of and can live both in the home or in direct daylight.

Some of the easiest ones to take care of are moth orchids, and the cool thing is they absorb moisture through their roots.
